ListSeed🌱 What's new in the garden
Hey early gardeners 👋
This seed is where I'll post updates as ListSeed grows, new features, changes, and the occasional "why did that button move" explanation. Consider it a running dev log, written for you instead of just for me.
Here's what's been planted so far:
🌿 Growth system — every seed now earns growth points as the community engages with it (💧 water = 2pts, 🌿 branch = 10pts). Watch the progress bar fill up as your seed climbs from Seed → Sprout → Sapling → Tree.
🔍 Discovery tabs — Trending, Contested, New, Random, and a Hall of Fame for seeds that made it all the way to Tree status.
🎨 Avatars — every account gets a colored initials avatar. Unlock new colors and frames by planting, branching, watering, and building a streak. Check your profile to see what you've earned (and what's still locked).
🔥 Activity streaks — come back and participate on consecutive days to build a streak. Miss a day? No penalty — it just pauses.
@Mentions — type @alias in a branch or comment to tag someone. They'll get notified and your mention becomes a clickable link to their profile.
✨ Supporters — grow any seed to full Tree status and you'll automatically become a ListSeed Supporter (badge + colored name + seed analytics). You can also support the garden directly via Ko-fi if you'd like.
🔥🐛 Burn & Pesticide — flag genuinely harmful content or toxic behavior, with confirmation prompts so it's never an accident. Check the Guidelines page for what each one actually means.
What's next? Honestly, depends partly on what you all run into. If something feels confusing, clunky, or like it's missing — branch off this seed and tell me. Early feedback shapes where this goes.

🌲 New: Seed Forest
Every seed you grow to Tree status now becomes a permanent tree in
your own personal forest. No shop, nothing to buy, nothing to
manage — it's just a living record of what you've actually grown.
Visit your forest from the menu (🌲 My Forest), or check out anyone
else's from their profile.
Most trees are calm and common. But the way a seed grows along the
way can shape what it becomes — some seeds turn into something
rarer. Keep an eye on your Saplings. Sometimes there's a hint of
what's coming before the reveal.
🌿 Branches (11)
✨ New for supporters
📌 Pin a branch — on your own seeds, you can now pin one
branch so it always appears at the top, above the sort order and
above "Add your take." Great for dev logs, update threads, or
highlighting a key response.
One pin per seed. Pinning a new branch unpins the previous one
automatically. Unpin anytime.
Not a supporter yet? Grow a seed to 🌳 Tree status or support
via Ko-fi — see the Supporters page for details.
🌿 New for everyone
🔗 Branch share links — every branch now has a Share button
that copies a direct link to that specific branch. Handy for
pointing someone to a particular reply without making them scroll.
🔍 Search branches — seeds now have a search box below the
branch count. Type a keyword and hit Search — it looks across all
branches on all pages, not just the ones currently visible. Works
with Top, Newest, and Oldest sort.
Quick update on the 🍀 icon — some of you may have seen a blank square (□)
where the save button should be. That was an emoji compatibility issue:
the original icon (🪴 potted plant - which some can actually see) is new enough that some systems
don't support it yet.
Switched to 🍀 (four-leaf clover) — same "lucky find" energy, works
everywhere on unicode 6.0. If you saw a broken icon before, a hard refresh
(Ctrl+Shift+R / Cmd+Shift+R) should fix it.
Everything else works the same — tap 🍀 on any seed card to save it
to My Garden.
🌿 New: see what's changed in your saved seeds
My Garden now shows a small "🌿 +# new" badge on any saved seed that's gotten new branches since you last looked. Open it, and the badge clears — so it's easy to spot what's actually new without re-reading everything.
There's also a filter to show only seeds with new activity, handy once you've got a few things saved and want to quickly check what moved.
Pairs nicely with saving seeds you're following — plant it, save it, and let the garden tell you when something's worth another look. 🌱
🪴 New: My Garden — save seeds for later
See something interesting but don't have time to dig in right now? Tap the 🪴 icon on any seed card (or "Save to garden" on the seed page) to add it to My Garden — a private list only you can see. It doesn't affect water/wilt counts or anything public, it's just your own reading list.
Find it under the menu → My Garden. From there you can:
- Sort by recently saved or oldest saved
- Search your saved seeds
- Remove individual seeds, or empty the whole garden
Everyone can save up to 6 seeds. Grow a seed to 🌳 Tree status (or support via Ko-fi) to unlock unlimited saves — see the Supporters page for details.
✍️ New: you can now format text in seeds and branches!
Look for the small toolbar above the text box when you're writing — it adds bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, code, and links.
Select some text and click a button, or type the shorthand yourself if you know it:
- bold
- italic
- underline
- strikethrough
- code for inline code
- link text for links
Comments don't have the toolbar (the box is a bit small for it), but the same shorthand still works there if you want to use it.
No colors or font sizes on purpose — keeping things simple and consistent across the garden. 🌱
📜 New: Privacy Policy & Terms
Added proper Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions pages, linked in
the footer. Worth a skim if you're curious exactly what ListSeed
does (and doesn't do) with your data.
🔑 New: You can now reset your password
Forgot your password? There's now a proper recovery flow — tap
"Forgot your password?" on the login page, check your email, and
set a new one. No more being permanently locked out.
📱 New: Install ListSeed like an app
You can now add ListSeed to your phone's home screen and use it
fullscreen, just like a native app — no app store needed.
On Android: open the menu (top right) → tap 📱 Install App.
Chrome will either install it directly or show a one-tap install
banner.
On iPhone: tap 📱 Install App in the menu for instructions —
short version: tap Share in Safari → Add to Home Screen. (If
you're using Chrome on iPhone, switch to Safari for this one step —
that's an Apple restriction, not a ListSeed thing.)
Once installed, you'll get a ListSeed icon on your home screen
that opens without any browser bar around it. Same site, same
account, just feels more like an app.
👥 New: Follow gardeners you like
Found someone whose seeds you keep coming back to? You can now
follow them.
Tap + Follow on any gardener's profile. When they plant
something new, you get a notification in your bell. Their seeds
also show up in your 👥 Following feed — find it in the menu.
The feed is chronological, newest first. No algorithm, no
ranking — just the people you chose to follow.
Follower and following counts are visible on every profile.
The actual list of who follows who stays private.

🌱 The homepage got a refresh too
If you visit ListSeed while logged out, you'll now see a proper
intro — what the garden is, how it works, and live stats showing
what's currently growing. Useful if you're sharing the link with
someone new.
Logged-in members now get a personalized greeting when they land
on the homepage instead of the generic header.

📖 Guidelines now have a table of contents
The guidelines page was getting long. There's now a "Jump to"
card at the top so you can go straight to the section you need
without scrolling through everything.
